Terms & Conditions

Terms for pre-order, donations and browsing–including pricing, shipping, cancellations and who sells to you when you pay with Mollie.

These terms apply when you use youwouldnever.org (and related pages we operate), pre-order You Would Never Let That Happen – When love turns toxic by Tessel ten Zweege (the “Book”), make a voluntary donation, or subscribe to our email list. What you are buying or supporting

Pre-orders are advance sales of one or more paperback copies of the English edition (softcover format). Printing and fulfilment are tied to the first English-language print run. We aim to dispatch from November 2026; that month is an estimate only (see Delivery below).

Donations are voluntary contributions toward our work, including sharing reliable information on intimate partner violence, coercive control and survivor resources–translations, outreach and related activities for this campaign. Making a donation does not by itself reserve a book; books are supplied only where you place a separate pre-order and pay for those copies (and shipping) at checkout.

Pre-order of the Book

When you complete a pre-order, you offer to buy the number of paperback copies you select at the checkout price shown. We accept that offer when we confirm receipt of payment via Mollie.

Price, currency, payment methods and VAT

Prices are quoted in euros (EUR / €). Each book is priced at €24.95, inclusive of VAT where VAT applies to your sale (broken down again on your Mollie payment page). Delivery charges are listed separately and added to your total before you approve payment–they are never folded into that book figure.

You receive: the number of paperback English editions you paid for once they are printed and handed to our carrier; an email confirming your order and successful payment; and transactional messages about fulfilment or problems that may affect delivery. Payments are handled by our provider Mollie using the methods they display. We never store your full bank or card details.

Optional donation on checkout: if you choose to add an optional amount with your pre-order, that component is a voluntary donation billed in the same Mollie transaction subject to the donation rules under Donations below–not an extra book copy.

Shipping fees, destinations and timeframe

Shipping is billed in addition to the book according to the delivery country you select. Typical flat rates applied at checkout (EUR, incl. VAT where we charge VAT on postage) unless we update them and show new amounts on this page and at checkout beforehand:

Zone Fee (per order, one shipment address)
Netherlands €4.95
Belgium €6.95
Other EU member states
(as offered in checkout)
€9.95
International (outside the zones above; as offered at checkout) €17.95

We intend to ship to all countries selectable in checkout (limited to jurisdictions our payment partner supports). Countries not offered in the list cannot be billed through this storefront; contact us by email if you believe your country should be added.

Fulfilment is tied to the first English print run. We currently expect to ship orders from around November 2026. That date is an estimate. Printing, freight, customs, shortages or carrier delays can postpone dispatch. For a materially long delay we will post an update on this site where practical and may write to the email you gave at checkout.

You are responsible for accurate delivery details and any import duties or local taxes your country may charge. If a parcel returns because of wrong details or because it was not collected, we may charge reasonable reshipment costs.

Cancellations and refunds (pre-order)

Where mandatory consumer rules in your country give you a right to cancel an online purchase of goods that have not yet been supplied to you, you may cancel your pre-order within 14 days of placing it for a full refund, unless the law allows a different rule for goods made to order or clearly personalised (if we ever offer such a variant, we will say so at checkout).

After that 14-day period, you may still request cancellation. If we have not yet dispatched your Book, we will refund the pre-order in full. Once the Book has been handed to the carrier, refund requests are handled only where required by applicable law or if the copy is faulty or does not arrive (see below).

EU consumers typically benefit from a two-year conformity guarantee on goods. If your copy arrives damaged, defective or not as described, contact us so we can put it right (repair, replacement or refund as the law requires).

To exercise cancellation or report a problem, email hello@youwouldnever.org from the address used at checkout and include your order details. Refunds are returned through the same payment route where possible, within a reasonable period after approval.

Donations

Donations are voluntary one-off payments. They support our outreach on intimate partner violence and related goals for this project (including translations, survivor-facing resources and similar work). They are not tax advice and may or may not be deductible where you live. Unless the law in your country requires otherwise, donations are final and not refunded once the payment has completed.

Newsletter and transactional email

If you tick a newsletter opt-in, we add you to our mailing list using EmailOctopus (a third-party service that stores subscriber details and sends marketing emails on our behalf). Processing of your address and preferences is described in our Privacy Policy. You may unsubscribe at any time; you will still receive transactional emails about payments and shipping as needed to perform the contract.

EmailOctopus is an independent supplier we engage for list management and delivery. We do not control its software, infrastructure or day-to-day operations, and we do not guarantee that its service will be uninterrupted, error-free or free from loss or unauthorised access. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, delay or inconvenience arising solely from EmailOctopus’s service, systems, conduct or failure, except where such limitation is not allowed (for example mandatory rules on our role as controller or for personal injury or death caused by our proven negligence).

Use of the site and content

Text, images, trade marks and design on this site belong to their respective owners (including the publisher and author where applicable). You may not copy or exploit them beyond what the law allows without permission.

Limitation of liability

The Book and related material on this site are for general information and education about relationships and abuse. They are not a substitute for qualified medical, therapeutic, legal or safety advice. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted specialist.

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect losses or loss of profit arising from use of the site, donations, or reliance on the Book; our total liability for any claim related to a paid pre-order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be excluded (such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

Privacy, cookies and related documents

Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data, including payment metadata, newsletter sign-ups and analytics / cookies (see Analytics and Cookies). The site footer links to the Privacy Policy and these Terms on every page so the information stays easy to find without logging in.

Contact and governing law

Questions about these terms: hello@youwouldnever.org.

These terms are intended to reflect common practice for independent book pre-orders in Europe. If you are a consumer, mandatory rules in your country of residence may also apply. Where permitted, substantive disputes are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
